If you’re in India and you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the BBC micro:bit, we have some very good news for you ... it will be officially launched in Mumbai on Tuesday, 19th September at DIDAC INDIA!

The event is set to be lots of fun, so if you’re going to be at DIDAC, come and find us in the British Pavilion. You’ll be able to see the micro:bit in action, try your hand at mini-lessons with our ambassadors and learn more about The Micro:bit Educational Foundation.

You’ll also be able to investigate our free web resources for students and teachers – so whether you’re into cricket and Bollywood or robots and 3D printers, you’ll find something to get excited about. And, proving that the micro:bit has huge potential for real-world applications, volunteers from tech giant Arm will be showcasing their lightweight, wearable, micro:bit-based electrocardiogram.

A team of ambassadors will also be on hand to answer your questions and discuss your ideas for micro:bit projects.

‘Coding skills will be vital for so many jobs in the future, so it’s important to get kids involved as early as possible’ says Kavita Kapoor, COO for the Micro:bit Educational Foundation.

‘Our ultimate aim is to reach more than 100 million kids worldwide, and this launch brings us one step closer.’

‘The micro:bit was specially designed to stimulate children’s creativity with digital technologies and India has a strong tradition of tech innovation … so we’re expecting great things from our young digital experts!’

‘We’re also keen to promote diversity within the industry. India currently produces the highest number of engineers on the planet, but they are predominantly male. The micro:bit has been shown to stimulate girls’ interest in ICT-related careers, and we very much hope to inspire the female engineers of the future to take their place among the next generation of digital pioneers.’

We look forward to seeing you in Mumbai!
