Print this poster on swell paper or edit the tactile graphic to help your students with visual impairments familiarise themselves with the features of the BBC micro:bit.

This resource uses English Grade 1 braille which is suitable for beginners.

Using a swell form machine

This file is designed specifically for swell form printing. Print the PDF onto swell paper and then feed the printed paper through a swell form machine. When heated, the black drawing and braille dots will rise while the coloured text stays flat.

Using embossing machines

It is possible to print this file with an embosser, but the coloured text labels will also be embossed. We are working on a specific version of this file for use with a Braille embosser. In the meantime you can edit the file to customise it for your own needs.

Editing the resource

To modify labels or translate the text, use the Powerpoint or SVG files. You will need to install a braille font on your computer to use these files, and “Enable editing” in Powerpoint to ensure the braille font loads. We recommend the free “Swell Braille” font which was used to create this poster. The coloured text labels use the “Helvetica LT Std” font.
